I’m happy to report (thank you, hoo4hearted, for the heads up) that AC4H (remember the Clyde with the horrific back issue – Article: The Ugly: When It Rains, It Pours) has been raided by the FBI.
Let’s hope that the right thing is done in this case.

The FBI went out and did this? Odd, since when does the FBI have anything to do with animal cruelty? I’m glad he’s out of there, though and I hope he lands a wonderful home once he’s fattened up and cared for.
Yep, FBI. So clearly they are not there about animal cruelty or the stated ‘health certs.’. They are there about fraud.

Yea, this hit FB today. “The operation’s owner, Christy Sheidy, said the raid has to do with the health certification of the horses she’s caring for. She said she’s innocent of any wrongdoing.” Anyone know of the FBI showing up at their doors checking for coggins? Rabies cert’s? Sweetie, sweetie, you’re in something a bit deeper than the bullshit you’re trying to waddle through. Last I knew, it takes a little more than a missing piece of paper to get the fed’s at your door. Cathy had some good dirt on ac4h on fhotd….too bad we can’t refresh our memories.
This ought to shake out as interestingly as Larry Whealon’s raid….keep the updates coming!

Their videos always made me cringe…but one of the last ones I’ve seen made me outright angry.

-sigh- she looks to be about the size of our mini. Roughly 34 inches. Yes, my moms lets little kids up on him, but she keeps it under 40 lbs and no one so much as leaned on him until he was 3-ish.
-sighs again- the markings are frustratingly similar to him too. Put a Star/stripe/Snip on his face and add a little more white at the back and that would almost be him. Gosh I hate people sometimes.

The Feds were not interested in animal cruelty, it was the conspiracy and wire fraud that brought them into the picture.

Mercedes, the reason I like your blog so much is that you are incorporating education along with keeping on top of abuse. I believe that the majority of horses here in the U.S. are cared for adequately, and education is the key to eliminating much of the abuse here. Where I live, it is mostly these fake “charro” guys that are doing it. Most of them (I kid you not) put up crappy boards to hide their stable areas. There is a andalusian breeding place near me, the horses are beautiful, but the stalls are never cleaned. A few of the boards have disappeared, and the manure is pilled up – I’d hate to see what the feet of these horses look like.
It’s not likely that this owner will improve the situation. But education will help to eliminate it in the long run.
I am trying to strike a balance. Clearly there are a handful of people that need never own or ‘operate’ a horse. They need to be stopped, but for everyone else the abuses are milder, subtler, and often simply corrected with education. I can’t do anything about the people who don’t want to learn (unless I want to end up in jail), but for those that do…they are welcome here.
Has anyone looked at their Facebook? Their STILL posting horses that need to be “bailed” out. The FBI doesnt raid you for health certificates, their had to be adequate proof of the wire fraud and such. The people donating are idiots. It appears that anyone can get a free horse from them because its been “sponsored”…………………..Maybe I just dont get it.
BayDemon: I think the horse gets paid for twice…it gets “sponsored” or “bailed out” by the bleeding hearts and then someone comes along and pays for it again. That’s just what I got out of it.
